Take-out Tuesday, Bacon Brown Sugar Chicken

At my house, this is one of our go to dinners

it goes together in a snap and everybody loves it!

I use precut chicken tenders which makes assembly a breeze

Chicken tenders, brown sugar and bacon are all you need,

and if you have time,

a marinade for an extra flavor boost

{I like to use teriyaki or Hawaiian}

Put the tenders on a parchment paper lined baking sheet

Top or wrap* each tender with 1/2 slice of bacon

and sprinkle liberally with brown sugar

*for grilling, wrap the bacon around the chicken

and for baking just lay it on top

Now all you have to do is pop them in the oven or put them on the grill

Serve them with crisp tender green beans

or Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes and

a Buttery Almond topped green salad

You can also serve them as an appetizer,

cut the tenders into smaller pieces

and serve them with toothpicks or cocktail forks

Great for football watching!

Brown Sugar Bacon Chicken Tenders

an easy dinner or appetizer that everyone loves
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Marinade time 3 hours
Course Appetizer, Main Course
Cuisine American, Grill

Ingredients

  • chicken tenders* or boneless chicken breasts cut into tenders
  • thick cut bacon strips
  • brown sugar
  • teriyaki or Hawaiian marinade

Instructions

  • Marinate chicken tenders for 2-3 hours if time permits
  • Cut bacon strips in half
  • Wrap each tender with a bacon piece, stretching to surround chicken, for grilling, or simply lay the bacon on top of chicken for baking
  • Sprinkle chicken and bacon liberally with brown sugar
  • Bake chicken at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes until chicken is cooked through and bacon is done or grill over medium heat until chicken and bacon are done
  • If baking, put chicken on a foil lined pan on a rack if desired or cook on the foil and then drain pieces on paper towels. Time will vary so watch carefully near end of baking time and remove when bacon is crispy

Notes

Plan on 2-4 tenders per person for a main dish and 1-2 tenders for appetizers
Cooking and grilling time depends on size and thickness of the chicken and the oven and grill
Test during cooking with a meat thermometer for accurate results
To serve as an appetizer, cut chicken into bite size pieces, wrap with 1/3 of a bacon strip and bake on a foil lined pan.  Serve with cocktail forks or toothpicks
Keyword bacon wrapped chicken, baked chicken, chicken, easy dinner, grilled chicken

Enjoy!
