Take out Tuesday, Cheesy Sausage Bread

We spent a lovely week at the beach for Thanksgiving

The highlight, or shall I say, the icing on the cake

was the Iron Bowl game, the annual rivalry game

between Alabama and Auburn~

It was a nail biter with Alabama throwing a hail Mary pass

during the last minute of the game for the winning touchdown!

HHjr made a sausage and cheese filled bread roll for us to nosh on

It’s made with canned pizza dough, sausage,

white cheddar cheese, and diced onions

After baking it’s cut into slices that are hard to resist!

You can make it with breakfast sausage, hot sausage or Italian sausage

Brown the sausage and remove to paper towels to drain

Saute the onions in a little of the rendered sausage grease

Unroll the dough

You can also use crescent roll dough or dough sheet

Put the cooked sausage on the dough in and even layer,

leaving 1/2 inch bare at the borders

Top with onions and cover with grated cheese

Starting from the long side, roll up into a log

Make several slits across the top so it can breathe as it’s baking

and brush with an egg wash

Bake at 375 degrees until golden

Carefully slice into 1 inch pieces
