Recipe Box, Peach Dumplings
Okay, so with my August Bucket List in mind,
I got 6 peaches from the grocery store,
planning to make Peach Bread
I set them out on the counter to continue ripening…
Later in the day
I saw my 12 year old grandson slicing one up for a snack~
No problem, I was happy he was enjoying it…
I went back into the kitchen an hour later and 2 more were gone!
They must really be good I thought…
That night I noticed my other grandson, Super Teen,
cutting one up to go with his dinner…
I thought, there are still 2 left…
but in the morning, they were gone!! No peaches for cooking!
So this recipe is from the archives,
and it’s so good it deserves a reread!

All you need is a roll of crescent roll dough,
2-3 peaches, almond extract, sugar and butter

Toss your peaches in boiling water for 45-60 seconds
to make quick work of removing the peel

It will slide right off

Cut peaches into large sections, about 1/4 of a peach

Separate dough triangles
and slather with almond emulsion* or almond extract
*emulsions do not have alcohol and therefore pack a little more flavor since the alcohol in extracts tends to evaporate during cooking
Wrap the peach section in a dough triangle
and place in a greased baking dish

Bring water, butter and sugar to a boil and cook for several minutes

Pour over dumplings in baking dish

Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes until golden
Sprinkle liberally with sliced almonds after baking

Drizzle pan sauce over the dumplings when serving
You can serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream too

Peach Dumplings
Ingredients
- 1 can crescent roll dough
- 2-3 fresh ripe peaches [or use canned]
- 1/2 cup vanilla sugar sugar or brown sugar*
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup water
- 8 tsp almond emulsion or extract
- sliced almonds
- 2 T sugar for topping
Instructions
- Peel peaches [blanch in boiling water for easy peel removal] and cut into large sections, about 4 per peach.
- Unroll dough and separate into triangles. Brush each triangle with a liberal tsp of almond flavoring.
- Top with a peach section and enclose dough around peach.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
- Boil water and add 1/2 cup sugar and butter. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour over dumplings in dish.
- Bake at 350 for 25 minutes, or until dough is cooked through and dumplings are golden. Top with sliced almonds. Serve warm with pan juices and/or vanilla ice cream. Makes 8 dumplings.

What a lovely dessert! We have something similar over here, but wrapped with a whole apricot.
Thank you Angie, it disappeared quickly 🙂
That is a funny story with your grands eating the peaches! The dumplings would have to be delicious. Thanks for sharing, Jenna. Have a wonderful Sunday!
Next time I’m hiding the peaches 😂
Peach Dumplings are a favorite summer dessert for us for the lazy days of summer Jenna! Time for you to buy more peaches, happy Sunday ♥
Thanks Mary, Big E loves cherry tomatoes too, and will eat a whole box in minutes, we have to hide them if we want to use them for dinner 😂
LOL! Great post.
Jenna, I adore peaches. I can understand why your grands love them so much. We have an orchard close to us, and I visit weekly in the summer. They have varieties starting in late June that go all the way to September. They also sell the best peach ice cream and hand pies. Your peach dumpling recipe looks scrumptious! I will definitely be giving it a try. Thanks so much for sharing! Happy Sunday, sweet friend!
Thanks Shannon, how wonderful to be able to buy fresh peach ice cream and. hand pies from the orchard near you, I bet it’s amazing!
Those look delightful! Same thing happens around here anytime there is fresh, local fruit in the house – peaches and apples. I have to buy extra so I have some for eating and more for baking.
Thank Carole~Fresh peaches are hard to resist!
Those look easy and tasty too. Pity about your other peaches — I hope you can get to the market again (but I suppose a good peach is for eating! And great that the kids love them!)
I couldn’t complain about them eating something healthy! Next time I just need to buy more 😂
That recipe sounds delicious, but I love the “Tale of the Disappearing Peaches” even more.🤣
I know, I couldn’t believe how fast they were disappearing!
I’ll bet this smells great. – peachy beachy summertime good!
Thanks Leslie Anne 🙂

Oh this sounds good Jenna – I haven’t had a fresh peach in ages! That was a funny story about the missing peaches. Thanks for the tip about the emulsion versus extract as I did not know that. I hope you are having a lovely week!
Thanks Kim, we have delicious peaches grown in Alabama, I wish I could give you some!
Oh what a funny story about the disappearing peaches! This is a great recipe Jenna………
Thanks Emily, I couldn’t believe how fast the peaches disappeared!
That’s so funny about the missing peaches, Jenna. Growing boys do love to eat! However, they missed out on these peach dumplings. I guess you’ll have to hide the peaches next time. Thank you for the recipe!

I made this today for a special Sunday treat. My husband and I both loved it! I also tried your trick with “peeling” the peaches–perfect!
