Party Panache, Bourbon Laced Caramel Apple Bread Pudding

This will warm you up on a chilly fall night!
Assuming we ever have a chilly fall night…
Hot weather takes my appetite away but I have 3 always hungry boys in my household, so I love to make them treats
This dish is not going to win a beauty contest, but it sure tastes good!
Bread puddings are so easy to make, bread, eggs, milk and something to give it flavor like apples and caramel!
Cube the bread, I used Challah bread, but brioche or croissants would be good in this recipe too
Put the apple pie filling in a bowl and cut the apples into smaller pieces
Mix up the custard {milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla} then add apples
Now mix in the bread cubes
Let mixture sit for 10 minutes so bread can absorb liquid
Now you’re ready to layer in the caramel sauce
I used Bourbon Pecan Caramel Sauce from Stonewall Kitchen*, but I also recommend Trader Joe’s Salted Caramel Sauce…any thick caramel sauce will work, and you can add your own splash of bourbon or sea salt to plain ones if desired
*Stonewall Kitchen products are available in many upscale grocery stores and online here
Place 1/2 of the bread pudding mixture in a well greased 8″ x 8″ baking dish, top with 1/2 of the caramel sauce and repeat
Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes
It smells amazing!
This recipe is adapted from one I found on What’s Cooking Love
