Creations, Fall Lantern

Welcome to the August edition of the monthly Creative Craft Hop!
Thank you Sara from Birdz of a Feather
for hosting our hop this summer

Have your thoughts turned from Summer to Fall?
As much as I love summer,
I have been thinking about Fall
and have started putting away summery things
and bringing out early fall decor

I received this lantern from special friends for Christmas last year
and decided to dress it up for Fall
I had plenty of things to work with in my craft stash

I started by attaching part of a colored leaf garland
to the top of the lantern with floral wire

Next I cut a length of burlap ribbon with black swirls

and tied it to the other side of the top

Next a bright orange ribbon with gold dots

I made some loops with the football ribbon

I used floral wire to secure it in the center

Then I wired the loops to the top of the lantern

Then I tied a big floppy bow with black and white checked ribbon

A sunflower is the finishing touch

I put a piece of ribbon around the candle
and secured it with a piece of tape

There is a bed of leaves for the candle to sit on inside the lantern
I am going to use a battery operated tea light
on top of the candle for safety
If you are going to light a real candle
be sure it won’t come in contact
with anything that could catch fire

I am looking forward to enjoying this bright and cheerful lantern
throughout the Fall!

The lantern came out so cute Jenna. My three year old grandson remembered the owl decor from last fall with the spider dangling from the hat….. so I had to put that out. LOL
Thanks Deb! It’s amazing what children remember!
So festive and such an easy way to add to early fall decor Jenna! Love the sunflower and addition of football ribbon with a nod to the season. College football starts this weekend and signals the start of fall for me, hurrah!
Thanks Mary, and yes yay for football season!
Ha,ha, I noticed the football ribbon right away! Bring on fall:@)
Bring on the football!
I really love all the ribbons you used, especially the bright orange with dots. Hard to believe it’s time to think football, cute touch with the ribbon. I have no idea where summer has gone, sure wish these temps and humidity would leave too. Love how you dressed the lantern for early fall!
Thank you Emily, it was a fun and quick project and really brightens up the room. Summer has flown by, and I wish it would take the heat and mosquitos with it! Yay for football season!
Way to go Jenna. You really showed us how to bring autumn into our home. Now, if we could only convince Mother Nature to give us autumn outside.
Thank you Bernadette, cooler temps will be back before we know it and we’ll be wishing for summer days!
You remnd me that it’s time to dig out my fall lantern. I wish I could remember where I put it last fall! I’m not ready to decorate for fall yet but I’ll be headed north again for about a month and when I come back it will be full fall and it would be nice to come home and not have to start at the beginning! Hmmm. Motivation.
I started decorating early this year for some reason, after making the lantern I just got in the mood! I hide stuff from myself all the time, don’t you hate that! 😂
I need that Jenna! So adorable. Happy Day to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Thanks Cindy, easy simple project!
Jenna, your fall lantern is so pretty! My sunflowers are still blooming and I plan on using them in my fall decor this year, too! It’s a pleasure to hop with you! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks so much Cecilia, I want to try growing sunflowers next year, I am just crazy about them!
You make the best creative decorative pieces, Jenna! Your fall lantern is fabulous! I always look forward to seeing your lovely creations!
Thanks so much Gail!
So lovely! You always know how to turn the little simple things into something magic and beautiful.
Thank you Angie, what a nice thing to say!
How fun is this Jenna?! You have such a way with bringing colours together that I just love. I haven’t started thinking about fall yet – although I would love a break from the heat and humidity we’ve been experiencing lately :). This sure helps inspire and put me into a Fall frame of mind.
Thanks so much Sara! It’s still hot and humid here too, but I am enjoying putting touches of early fall around my house and sunflowers always make me happy 🌻
This is definitely festive! When I get back to AZ… I will be updating my outdoor lantern. Thanks so much for another inspirational post!
You are so welcome, this was a fast and easy project!
Love how you decorated the lantern. Any suggestions of where to find that wonderful football ribbon??You used it so perfectly!
Thanks Marilyn, I got the ribbon at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago, I hope you can find some or something similar!
I didn’t think I was ready for fall until I saw your cute lantern. The sunflowers help me transition from summer into fall. The only thing I would do differently is to switch out the football ribbon as I am (gasp!) not a fan. The tea light is a very practical idea. Now I’ll start looking around at fall decorations and crafts that are popping up with a new attitude.
Oh thank you Linda! I love sunflowers this time of year, so bright and happy! I understand if you’re not a football fan, there are so many cute ribbons in the craft stores these days, and if you have a Hobby Lobby nearby, they have an abundance of really cute fall stuff!
Well, that sure turned out super cute! Love that you put the candle on a bed of leaves and I like the colorful ribbons. I will remember to copy this for one of my lanterns when we get more into September. PINNING! I’m not ready to put away my beach dishes / decor just yet, as I am having too much fun “jumping the waves”. 🌊🌞🏖🐚
Thanks so much Cyndi, it was a fun and easy project. Enjoy playing with your beach dishes as long as you can!
Jenna, the lantern is perfect for fall and so cute with the ribbons. It has been so hot that I haven’t gotten into the fall decorating. Can’t wait for Alabama football…Roll Tide!
I know, it’s too hot to be outside so I’ve been having fun inside staying cool! I know kick off next Saturday!! RTR!!
Layers upon layers of pretty fall ribbons sure do create a cute look.
Thanks Karen, a simple quick project!
Jenna, I loved what your did with your lantern. It turned out beautiful! I love summer, too, but I think I’m ready for fall to arrive.
Thank you Shannon, I am enjoying the cheerful Fall lantern and thinking of Fall and the fun it will bring…
Your lantern turned out super cute, Jenna! I knew Lynn would love the football ribbon.
ha ha, yes a fellow football lover!
I have to admit I never thought of decorating my lanterns….you may have started my quest to find things to decorate them with. (I have a paltry craft stash, lol)
Decorating lanterns is fun and easy, and they look so cute! Have fun creating Sandra!
Thx for step by step. The football ribbon is adorable
Thanks Gail!
Jenna, your fall lantern is lovely, and adding the football ribbon is such a cute idea! I’m delighted to be featuring your crafted decor at Tuesday Turn About this week. Pinned!
What an adorable fall lantern! Congrats on being featured on Tuesday Turn About link party! Hope to see you at the party this week!
Thanks so much Cindy!
