Party Panache, Team Pride, Southern Favorite Recipes for the National Championship

I know everyone is focusing on New Year’s Resolutions,

dealing with life in this pandemic,

and trying to stay sane in this political turmoil…

but here in Alabama,

we are focused on the National Championship game tomorrow night!

We love to go all out for Alabama games,

but with safe socializing in mind

and the fact that winter has arrived in the South

{high Monday predicted 45 and low 34} ~

It’s too cold to have friends over for watching on the patio 🥶

But!

HHjr and his boys and I will carry on in celebratory fashion!

I will fill the football helmet with chips and salsa or Tailgate Trash

Tide Pride Snack Bowl

And I can set an Alabama tablescape!

Or perhaps we’ll have a buffet

Or maybe I’ll get out the Alabama Football Tree and Wreath for decor

I’m also thinking about my favorite Alabama food from the archives…

State Pride Sign

These recipes are great for any event or gathering all year round!

Sweet Home Alabama Butter Pecan Coffeecake

is great for breakfast, snacking or dessert

Wedge Salad Dip is one of my favorites

you can customize it with your team or event colors

and serve it with healthy dippers like romaine leaves,

celery, cucumber slices or sweet peppers

Dixie Mac & Cheese Poppers are super simple to make

using Stouffer’s prepared macaroni & cheese,

and you can make them kid friendly with sweet peppers instead of jalapenos

Sassy Sausage Squares only take minutes to make and bake

Red & White BBQ Chicken Rolls

Cooked or rotisserie chicken, mixed with red and white BBQ sauces,

and enclosed in crescent rolls…just try to resist!

Or if you want to keep things lo-carb, how about

Ranch Chicken with Alabama White Sauce

Or I can make a big pot of slow cooker Winter Warmth Chowder

perfect for this cold weather,

and the boys will love the tater tot croutons

A loaded vegetable pizza would be good…

like this “Not Your Momma’s Vegetable Pizza”

It’s loaded with asparagus, Brussels sprouts, fennel,

pine nuts and crispy prosciutto-

the only Southern part of this delicious pizza is the name 😂

For dessert, I think I’ll make 2 Bite Cherry Pies,

they’re red and white,

and small enough to be a not too guilty treat

Alabama Comeback Bars are a household favorite treat too,

a crazy combo that includes potato chips and bacon

in a sweet cookie bar

Time to get busy in the kitchen today

so I can enjoy the game tomorrow!

Jenna, you have so many delicious game day foods to choose from for the big game Monday night. Any of these are certain to keep guests and hosts happy. Since it will be only the two of us I will set the island with a simple buffet spread for the game. Aside from the food, I love all of your “Bama” serve ware. I know you and HHjr and the boys will celebrate in style. ROLL TIDE!

I always think of you when I see, hear or read of AL football, Jenna. Anyone would be excited to be invited to your food fare and how you present it. Be safe, however your gang celebrates!

  3. You’re like my Cleveland cousins. Sports is life! I’m not big into any of the sports but I am into the buffet and snacks and I would be very happy gorging myself on any one of those yummy looking foods! And I like how you personalized your Bama table, wreath, just about everything. So fun and festive!

We really wanted to watch the game outside, but I agree….it’s going to be too cold unfortunately!

Well, I am a graduate of Ohio State, Jenna, and all four of my kids were born in Columbus, Ohio! I have my Ohio State flag out and am making Buckeyes and a football cheese ball. We will be rooting for different teams, but we will always be friends.

    • Oh wow Kitty, you do have deep ties to Ohio State!! It was such a great game, both teams are fierce competitors and so talented. I would have loved some of your Buckeyes and football cheese ball!

  13. Jenna, you sure know how to party. The food looks amazing! How fun to hang out with you. no one goes hungry. I am happy to feature this fun post at Love Your Creativity. Happy Sunday.
