Holidays, Smooth Sailing for Labor Day

I’ve tried to really keep the E’s in Entertaining this summer with easy recipes and entertaining ideas, like a Backyard Picnic
Last weekend we had our family summer finale since we can’t all be together for Labor Day
All it takes is a little advance planning, and you will feel like someone did the cooking for you!
Here’s some effortless things to keep in mind to take the labor out of your Labor Day
Breakfast
Breakfast on a Stick is popular with everyone, skewer a variety of fruits, bagels, sweet rolls and donut pieces, even bacon!
Almond Danish, look like they came from a fancy bakery, but they are crescent rolls filled with almond paste and a little brown sugar-
You can also bake them with bacon, eggs & cheese for a unique breakfast casserole Buried Danish Breakfast Bake
Bacon Biscuit Bake made with bacon, canned biscuits and cheese is perfect for morning nibbling…make a big batch, it will go fast!
Lunch
Hot Dog Bar- make everyday hot dogs special by laying out a spread of different mustard and condiments
Make some Bacon Jam in advance for a real treat on burgers and dogs…
Amp up your burgers with Bleu Cheese Buns
or serve them on Alexia’s Sourdough Cheese Rolls, found in the frozen bread section
Serve BLT Skewers with a BBQ Bloody Mary to kick off the weekend
Italiano Morsi are a great grab and go sandwich on a stick made with pesto and favorite Italian meats and cheeses
Naan Pizzas can be made in minutes
Try a savory Basil Pesto version or a sweeter Summer Fruit
Appetizers
Try 5 Minute Mystery Dip, the ingredients sound weird, but there’s never any left!
Chili Lime Corn Nachos are so good and so different!
Bacon Wrapped Sweet Chili Shrimp, oh boy, do these ever swim away…
Salads
Cool Cucumber Salad can be served by itself or atop salad greens
Lazy Day Grape Salad can be made in advance and will keep for several days
Bleu Cheese Lite Coleslaw pairs nicely on the side or on top of BBQ pork or chicken sliders
Sides
Pantry Potatoes are effortless, prepped in 5 Minutes with frozen hashbrowns
Roasted Tomato Zucchini Boats are very figure friendly 👗
Dinner
Go kebab crazy! Let everyone pitch in-
Blackened Lemon Shrimp Skewers
Hawaiian Chicken with Smoked Sausage, Peaches & Apricots
Teriyaki Steak Kebabs are a complete meal on a stick!
1. Marinate the meat ahead of time, then let everyone make their own
2. Slice squash or zucchini, onions, mushrooms, peppers, pineapple, anything goes-
3. Add a sprinkle of sesame seeds to make them look festive
I like this bottled sauce from Soy Vay
Dessert
Keep things cool on these last days of summer with these easy ice box and freezer desserts
Chocolate Mint Cookies & Cream
Have an Ice Cream Sundae Bar
Get a gallon bucket of vanilla ice cream and set out a variety of syrups and toppings-crumbled cookies, M&Ms, chopped candy bars, chocolate chips, berries…and don’t forget the whipped cream!
Hope your Labor Day is fun and laborless!!

That bloody mary looks good now, and I love the skewer, so I’m going to try that. I’ve been curious about bacon jam as well, so thanks for the link there. What a fun post!
